biography
António Bolota was born in Benguela (Angola, 1962) and came to Portugal in 1975. He lives and works in Bicesse. He graduated in Civil Engineering at “ISEL” (Lisbon’s Superior Institute of Engineering) between 1981 and 1985, keeping the exercise of this activity until the present time. He initiated his artistic training in Drawing and Painting between 1994 and 1998 at the School “Oficina de Artes” and at Cooperativa (Collective) “Atitude”, both in Cascais. In 2001 he integrated “ARCO” (Art and Visual Communication Center) where he continued his training and developed his knowledge in Aesthetics, Art History and Drawing Practice, until 2003. From 2004 to 2007, at the same school, he took the Sculpture course. He finished his artistic training with ARCO’s Advanced Course between 2006 and 2008. He has started his artistic practice in 2006 with the collective exhibition “Sem Título” (“Telhado”) (Translation – “No Title” “Ceiling”) at Interpress in Lisbon, keeping this practice and the exhibiting regular.
Carla Filipe was born in Aveiro, in 1973, and currently lives in Porto. She took a degree of Fine Arts-Sculpture by Faculdade de Belas Artes (Visual Arts’ Faculty) at Porto’s University and is a Master in “Contemporary Artistic Practices” by the same institution. In 2009/10 she won a Fundação (Foundation) Calouste Gulbenkian’s scholarship at Acme Studios in London.
