Born in Lisbon, on 4 February 1940.

Attended the Architecture and Painting courses of Escola Superior de Belas-Artes de Lisboa from 1957 to 1961.

Exhibits regularly since 1958. His first solo exhibition was held in 1960.

In 1961, he left for Paris, where he lived and worked until 1991. This Parisian stay was interrupted between 1975 and 1976, a period during which he resided in New York.

Returned to Portugal in 1991, and has lived and worked there since then.
